The UK has the second fewest public holidays in the world
According to research by finance firm Mercer and Telegraph Travel, the United Kingdom has the second fewest bank holidays in the world.
The UK has only eight bank holidays: New Year Holiday, Good Friday, Easter Monday, May Day, Late May Bank Holiday, August Bank Holiday, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. The only country in the world that has fewer holidays is Mexico with a measly seven days off.
Compared to our European neighbours the UK is sadly lacking in public holidays as France (11), Germany (9), Spain (14), Italy (11) all have more than the UK. In fact The country with the highest number of bank holidays in Europe is Finland with a whopping 15 days of holiday.
The USA has 10 bank holidays.
India and Columbia have the most bank holidays (18 days), followed by Thailand, South Korea, Japan and Lebanon (16 days).
