In Sweden they have self-chipping parties
In Sweden many people are self-chipping and even have parties where people come and get chipped. If you own a pet you might already be familiar with the idea of microchip implants; the process of embedding a small microchip beneath the skin.
In pets it enables you to identify a lost animal. With humans they can use the chip to pay for things, to gain entry to buildings and use public transport.
Self-chipping is popular in the trans-humanist movement (those that believe in a future where we are one with technology e.g. bionics etc.)
Innovators in Sweden are holding “chips and beer” soirees where people implant microchips and chat about cyborg applications.
