The magical healing power of sugar
In 2018 a pilot study by the University of Wolverhampton showed that sugar helps wounds to heal.
To treat a wound with sugar, all you do, Murandu says, is pour the sugar on the wound and apply a bandage on top. The granules soak up any moisture that allows bacteria to thrive. Without the bacteria, the wound heals more quickly.
If NHS trials are succesful, sugar could be used in the future to treat wounds that are resistant to antibiotics.
How to treat a wound with sugar:
1. Pour granulated sugar on the wound
2. Put a bandage over the wound
